Navigating Your Learning Journey in the LLL Programme

The LLL Programme in Clinical Nutrition offers you the flexibility to create an individual study plan by selecting from a variety of modules and live courses. This allows you to accumulate credits and certificates, which can be used to apply for the ESPEN Diploma in Clinical Nutrition. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Registration

No Fees: There are no fees for learning with the LLL Programme to accumulate credits from the online material.

2. Getting Started

2.1 The module catalogue lists the topics and modules available in the LLL programme. The content of all the modules, related cases, and tests is provided free online. You can select the modules you are interested in and create an individual study plan.

2.2 The timetable of live courses/webinars is dynamic and provides information on live classes planned worldwide each year.

3. Certification and Credit Accumulation

The competencies and skills acquired through the LLL programme in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism are assessed and certified. The ESPEN LLL programme in Nutrition is accredited by the UCME, which provides continuing medical education (CME) credits for physicians.

3.1 Certification Levels:

1. Online Activities: To earn credits from online activities, you must read the module content, complete the self-assessment test, answer the clinical case questions, and pass the grading quizzes for each module in the topic. One credit is awarded for each module after successfully passing the grading quiz. Four credits are awarded for completing four modules in each topic.

2. Live Courses include training on one topic, consisting of 4 modules. The live course is delivered in a 4-hour format by recognised experts in clinical nutrition.
Each live course possesses three components: Four Lectures, Case discussions, and an Assessment test.
A certificate of 4 CME credits is awarded after passing a test (24 correct out of 30 true/false questions). If your score is less, you will receive a certificate of attendance.

3. Webinars have a live course format, but the lectures, case discussions, Q&A sessions and tests are conducted online.
To enroll in a webinar, log in to the LLL program using your ESPEN or LLL username and password.
Enrollment in a webinar is handled by contacting the course director or the contact person for the webinar you are interested in.

4. Credits are kept in your portfolio for 10 years.

3.2 ESPEN Diploma

Credit accumulation from various modules allows you to be awarded the ESPEN Diploma in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. The diploma is awarded after accumulating a total of 120 credits.

Credit Requirements:

• 64 credits from online courses.
• 56 credits from live courses and webinars (14 courses in total).
• 30 credits from successfully completing the final exam.

For the final exam topic selection, please refer to "Module Catalogue for the Final Exam" and select your 16 topics based on the contents provided.

Mandatory topics for live courses/webinars: Topics 3, 8, 9, 17, 23 and 26.

3.3 Individual Portfolio

The LLL programme in Clinical Nutrition allows you to create an individual study plan, consisting of a self-selected list of modules and live courses, to collect credits and certificates for the ESPEN Diploma.

Portfolio Management:

• Upon registration, the system automatically tracks all your activities.
• Enrolment in each topic provides free access to educational content, options, and resources of the modules, as well as the opportunity to earn credits and certificates.
• Your personalised portfolio tracks and evaluates your progress. Customise it to meet your personal interests and goals, and update your profile with your data.
